The FACTS (Family and Child Therapeutic Services) Initiative serves children, youth, and families in the Charlotte–Mecklenburg area who have experienced trauma and face persistent barriers to care. Our clients live primarily in underserved neighborhoods where social determinants—limited insurance coverage, transportation hurdles, unstable housing, food insecurity, language access, and stigma—restrict access to timely, trauma-focused therapy.
In order to expand our reach to underserved communities, we partner with local nonprofits serving the same demographic through our Community Partnership Program (CPP). By bringing licensed therapists at trusted partner nonprofits—organizations focused on transitional housing, domestic violence advocacy, support for human-trafficking survivors, and family stability—we meet people where they already receive help and coordinate wraparound support. This removes logistical and financial barriers to care as services are provided at no cost to the clients and are delivered on-site. Our integrated model reduces wait times and allows clients to focus on healing while partners address housing, safety, food, and employment needs.

Our program for training the next generation of highly competent, trauma-informed clinicians. We utilize a "crawl, walk, run" model where master’s level and post-graduate interns are gradually integrated into client care, providing essential skill-building and psychoeducation while managing low-risk caseloads. This program is critical to scaling our capacity and ensuring the future quality of community mental health.
