Founded in 2018 by clinicians Gwen Harris and Aisha Yesher-El, The FACTS Initiative was born from a shared vision to close the gaps in quality care for families often overlooked by traditional systems. Witnessing firsthand how trauma and limited access to services can harm children and parents, they built a space where expert, nonjudgmental, and culturally aware care could thrive.
Our mission is to help children and families achieve social and emotional well-being by providing quality, trauma-focused, child and family mental health care in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area. We bring weekly, trauma-informed and culturally responsive mental health care into trusted community spaces so families can start sooner, stay engaged, and build long-term stability. Through deep community partnerships, our team ensures every family receives the support, stability, and empowerment they deserve.
Our long-term vision is to eliminate barriers to mental wellness for underserved communities and to maintain high-quality care by ensuring our providers and staff are well-trained and cared for. We want to see a Mecklenburg County where every family can access timely, affirming, affordable care and where healing becomes the foundation for thriving schools, steady work, and strong neighborhoods.
